Ely, Minnesota
The Blueberry/Art Festival, Ely’s signature summer event, features more than 240 artists and crafters and 25 food vendors. The Ely Chamber of Commerce sponsors this event, which celebrates its 42st running. It draws some 30,000 people over a three-day period to enjoy fine art, quality crafts, and great ethnic food.

Julebyen
Knife River, MN
JULEBYEN (pronounced YOOL-eh-BE-en) means "Christmas Village".
Julebyen is a centuries-old Nordic tradition celebrated with ethnic foods, crafts, holiday decorations, and music. Julebyen is hosted by the non-profit Knife River Recreation Council for the benefit of the community.

DELFT TILE WORKSHOP

In this class, we will be making our own delft tiles. Each student will roll out and cut 4″ x 4″ porcelain tiles, and use authentic cobalt oxide to paint on a design of their choice. We will look over tile examples from history, and brainstorm ideas of what each student would like to portray.

Handbuilding in Clay for Middle Schoolers

Duluth Folk School
​
Duluth middle school students will learn techniques to handbuild useful clay projects. From wall hangings to personalized painter palettes, and clay storage boxes. They will receive thoughtful instruction on how to plan, design, construct and decorate their project.

Introduction to Pottery Wheel Throwing

​
Get your hands on clay! Receive step by step instruction on how to successfully throw clay designs on the potter's wheel. Learn key concepts to center clay, and specific techniques for making cylinders, bowls and plate shapes. Students will spend their class time practicing the throwing methods, receiving helpful tips and instruction, developing their skills, having fun and being creative!
