Hawthorns in Autumn No. II
Oil on linen panel
11" x 14"
Framed
In folklore the Hawthorn is revered as a tree of love and protection, and it was thought to bring good luck to plant a Hawthorn in the front of the home. In this autumnal landscape, the soft gray sky, feathery grasses, and the delicate branches of the trees show a gentle vulnerability. The Hawthorn pair shed their leaves and sway together, tangled in the shifting seasonal winds.
Framed in a subtle ornate champagne moulding. Signed in the lower right by artist Julie Berg-Linville.
